Born Xavier Landum, BigX grew up in Dallas under two contrasting influences — his laid-back mother and a strict father. After spending time with friends in Ferris, Texas, BigX got involved in the streets. Though football offered an escape, trouble followed him. After being expelled from college for smoking weed, he faced legal challenges and even jail time, missing significant moments with his son. These experiences made him realize he needed to change his path to provide for his family.

From Writing Rhymes to Making Hits

BigX first started writing rhymes while in solitary confinement, though he didn’t take rap seriously at first. But the desire to support his family motivated him to pursue music. His early track “Taliban Freestyle” created buzz, leading to his debut mixtape Bacc From the Dead in 2020. After signing with UnitedMasters, BigX released AMAR in 2021, with breakout singles like “Texas” and “Levels.” The success of these tracks cemented his place in the rap scene, and his song “Texas” even became the theme for the Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 hype video.

Building a Legacy Through Music

BigX’s latest album, Take Care, reflects themes of struggle, growth, and responsibility. He explains that while success brings money and jewelry, it also brings new challenges, like staying connected with his children. His music addresses both the highs and lows, from vulnerable tracks like “Therapy Session” to confident anthems like “The Largest.” Along with releasing albums, BigX invests in his label, 600 Entertainment, mentoring artists like Ro$ama and Yung Hood. With music, commercials, and even movie offers, BigX stays ready for any opportunity. “I’m doing whatever it takes for the bag,” he jokes, but his passion for music and family drives him forward.
