The former of which spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 entry with its lead single, “My Dawg.” He signed with Quality Control Music, an imprint of Motown and Capitol Records, to release his debut studio album Harder Than Ever (2018). It peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and was supported by the Billboard Hot 100-top ten single “Yes Indeed” (with Drake).

In 2024, he made headlines after revealing on the podcast “A Safe Place,” presented by Lil Yachty, that he lost between 8 and 9 million dollars in a casino over a 40-hour period. Recognizing his problem with gambling, Lil Baby asked his friend Michael Rubin, CEO of Fanatics, to write a letter to all casinos to prohibit his entry. Since then, he has stopped gambling.
